Spartan Blades is known to make knives that are built to last, knives that have a purpose, knives that are named specifically. Enyo was the ancient goddess of war, the counterpart and companion of the war god Ares.
Enyo is a good name for this knife as it is a good companion that can be carried around the neck, in a pocket, or inside the waist band (IWB). The knife has been carefully designed to make it a comfortable EDC fixed blade. The Spartan Blades Enyo is perfectly suited for daily cutting tasks and comes with a form-fitted Kydex sheath with a stainless steel neck chain, IWB loop and a para-cord for convenient carry options. The Enyo lanyard includes a plated pewter Spartan helmet bead.
As native copper was available, ancient civilizations started to use it. Though copper is soft for a metal, and would easily deform, it would not hold an edge well and was poorly suited for working stone, though was more durable than earlier materials. Bronze was a superior, later development, though still quite soft for a metal. Both bronze and copper can be work hardened by hitting the metal with a hammer. Iron replaced bronze once sufficient smelting technology was achieved to reach iron’s melting point. Steel, a series of alloys made from iron, became the metal of choice in the modern age which displays far superior qualities than iron.
Various alloys of steel can be made which offer a wide range of physical and chemical properties desirable for blades. For example, surgical scalpels are often made of stainless steel so that they remain free of rust and largely chemically inert; tool steels are hard and impact resistant (and often expensive as retaining toughness and hardness requires expensive alloying materials, and, being hard, they are difficult to make into their finished shape) and some are designed to resist changes to their physical properties at high temperatures.
Designed and manufactured in North Carolina, Enyo is another knife in the Spartan Blades collection that is designed and manufactured by this veteran-owned small business that prides itself on making knives for people who know a thing or two about what makes a good knife.
