The Lenovo Vibe K5 Note and Asus Zenfone 3, are both newly launched midrange smartphones. Both the brands have a reputation of providing good value for money smartphones. Asus is a Taiwanese brand while Lenovo is a Chinese brand and have been ruling the smartphone market since quite a long time now. Though they cannot be compared to bigger well-known brands as of yet, but their latest devices have created quite a buzz in the mobile industry. With our hard earned money at stake, which device should be your cup of tea? Let us find out.
Starting with display, both the devices have similar 5.5-inch displays of full HD resolution and a same pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. On this front, two of them match equally. Although the Zenfone 3 has a Gorilla Glass coating on top which is absent in the K5 Note.
Coming to the build and design, the Asus Zenfone 3 fares a little better thanks to its slimmer body. Both of them weigh nearly the same with a mere 3 grams of difference. Another point working in the favour of the Zenfone 3 is the multiple colour options compared to its rival.
Moving to the performance, in Asus Zenfone 3 there is a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. On the other hand, Lenovo K5 Note comes with a1.8GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6755 processor clubbed with mammoth 4GB of RAM and Mali-T860 MP2. Even here Zenfone 3 seems to have a slight edge thanks to its powerful processor, although a large amount of RAM in K5 Note makes it a little better at handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
On the storage front, both devices score the same by offering 32GB of inbuilt and 128GB of expandable memory. Although Lenovo Vibe K5 Note races a little ahead as it has a dedicated memory card slot, meanwhile Asus Zenfone 3 relies on its Hybrid SIM slot to use a microSD card.

The Zenfone 3’s camera also has superior laser autofocus feature and an aperture of f/2.0, compared to the phase detection autofocus present in the camera of K5 Note with an aperture of f/2.2. Also the RGBW sensor present in Asus Zenfone 3 boosts the performance of its camera. Although an 8MP front facing camera with wide angle selfie feature in Lenovo K5 Note seems better compared to the 5MP one present in Zenfone 3.
Connectivity wise, both of them fare equally with their own plus points and drawbacks. The biggest disadvantage in Asus Zenfone 3 is the absence of a dedicated dual SIM slot which is present in Lenovo K5 Note, while the lack of USB Type C in K5 Note is its drawback, as this feature is present in Zenfone 3. Aside from that, both these phones have all other connectivity options expected in a smartphone of this range.
In the multimedia segment Lenovo Vibe K5 Note takes a big lead over its rival thanks to the Dolby Atmos surround sound, cutting-edge Wolfson audio technology and most importantly is its TheaterMax technology which can convert regular content to its immersive VR counterpart.
Speaking of sensors, both the devices have fingerprint sensor located on the back, along with usual bunch of sensors which are light, proximity, accelerometer, compass and gyroscope.
Finally coming to the battery, the Lenovo K5 Note emerges on top, offering a 3,500mAh battery capacity, while the Asus Zenfone 3 offers a modest battery backup of 3,000mAh.
So after comparing all the features and specifications of these two devices, it is safe to say that both of them offers good features at an affordable pricing. Both these handsets have their own positives as well as negative points compared to each other, but considering the overall features of these devices, the Asus Zenfone 3 seems to be a better option. Although it does have a slightly higher price tag compared to Lenovo K5 Note. If you are looking for a smartphone that has a huge battery backup and provides a great multimedia experience, then Lenovo K5 Note is a great choice for you. However in all other aspects, the Asus Zenfone 3 completely trumps its Chinese rival particularly in the camera department.
